This guide is designed to support students in EDUG 230, MAT 501, and anyone who is looking for culturally responsive/culturally relevant books for PK-12.
The infographic below shows the 2018 statistics on racial and ethnic diversity in children's books, and showcases how far the children's book industry must go to more equitably represent the diversity of students in today's classrooms. While cultural responsiveness encompasses more than race, these statistics point toward a larger lack of representation of diverse experiences and identities throughout children's and young adult publishing.
