Family law is the body of law dealing with marriage, divorce, adoption, child custody and support, child abuse and neglect, paternity, juvenile delinquency, and other domestic-relations issues. --- Black’s Law Dictionary

When conducting family law research it is important to think carefully about search terms, just as it is when beginning all research.  Be sure to think of legal terms in addition to common parlance. You may have to think more broadly or more narrowly about a topic to find books, articles, court cases, etc. that relate to your issue.  You may want to consult a dictionary or thesaurus to assist in research term generation.

For example, the list below contains some family law topics with associated key words that will help you as you begin your research.  This is not an exhaustive list, you will likely need to think of additional terms as you begin your research.
