What is plagiarism?

"The practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own" (Oxford Dictionary of English)

You can avoid plagiarism by:

  • taking effective notes
  • paraphrasing, summarizing and quoting appropriately
  • understanding what is common knowledge
  • recording citation information for your sources
  • citing your sources correctly
