What does peer reviewed mean?

Most scholarly journal articles are peer reviewed, or reviewed by experts on the topic before being accepted for publication.  Some scholarly journals do not have a peer review process, but have an editorial board that reviews articles to judge their quality.  Both peer review and editorial board review are indicators of high quality

Is this article peer reviewed?

To find a peer reviewed article while searching a database look for a check box with the words "peer reviewed" next to it. Make sure that box is checked and your search will only display articles that have been peer reviewed.
